Contractor with excessive flatulence. How to handle. Hello All, My husband and I are having our bathroom remodeled. We are currently working with a tiling contractor who is doing a great job except the issue of how often and loudly he passes gas. We are concerned if we say something he may be embarrassed or think we are being petty.

There is no electricity in the bathroom now to vent it and the smells stay for hours. I work from home in the next room over. He often times talks to himself while he works, I heard him say to himself "lord make me fast and accurate" and let out a disgusting *art with a loud groan proceeding. There has to be some degree of professionalism in this situation right?

Klutzy-Profession330 He could be ill? 17h ago Maybe he doesn't realize you can hear him? I understand wanting the noise and smell to stop. Don't be petty, be kind. Assume it's an illness and find ways to lessen your distress. Get a long cord, and a fan that is loud and effective.

koreandoughboy21 17h ago I think there are a-lot of home owners here who would give an arm and a leg to find a contractor who does a great job and who's only fault is that they pass gas too much.

queentee26 17h ago I mean, even if you say something, what will it change... The guy probably has poor digestion and that won't go away just because you embarrassed him. Open a window & spray some deodorizer when he leaves.

    • Mangos28 17h ago I might take this as a sign to improve ventilation somehow. If his smell can sit for hours, so will your new bathroom's smells.

Subject_Education931 16h ago I understand your concern. It's unsettling. It's your home. If your contractor is otherwise polite, doing a good job, and you've got a good rate just deal with it. Once the bathroom is done, the smell will be gone, and this will all be behind you. In the interim, use an air freshener and a plug in fan and an extension chord to ventilate. Perhaps, open the window in the bedroom? You'll be laughing about this soon.
